Join the team at Raised in Bristol – where early years education meets community impact.

We’re seeking an experienced and passionate SENDCo to lead Raised In’s approach to inclusion, behaviour and Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), across all Raised In nursery settings. This role ensures that our policies, practices, and staff training reflect best practice and meet the needs of every child in our care.

We’re a not-for-personal-profit social enterprise with a clear mission: to provide the very best early years education while investing in the communities we serve.

We’re a passionate bunch at Raised In! We love what we do, and we’re committed to helping the youngest children reach their full potential in friendly, nurturing, and engaging home-from-home environments. We’re building something special, and we’d love you to be part of it.

Our approach centres on child-led learning through play, with a thoughtfully designed curriculum that nurtures curiosity and supports each child’s unique interests. From the baby room through to preschool, we focus on every stage of development—helping children grow in confidence and preparing them for their exciting next steps towards school.

We have four Raised in Bristol nurseries: Raised in Bristol at Easton Community Centre (BS5), Raised in Bristol at Felix Road Adventure Playground (BS5), Raised in Bristol at Docklands Community Centre (BS2) and Raised in Bristol at the Greenway Centre (BS10). This role will be based in a Raised In nursery, with regular travel to other settings and to Raised In HQ expected.

Why work with us?

We really value our expert team. As well as offering competitive pay for all roles in a friendly and supportive team, you’ll receive lots of great benefits:

  • Competitive pay

  • Annual pay reviews

  • Paid one hour lunch break

  • 50% off for your child in our nurseries

  • Enhanced maternity pay

  • Employer pension

  • ‘Refer a friend’ bonus for introducing new team members to us

  • 28 days holiday (inc bank holidays, FTE)

  • Your Birthday off and an Annual Wellbeing Day (in addition to your annual leave)

  • Plus 3 extra days off between Christmas and New Year

  • 24/7 access to a remote GP for you and your family

  • Career progression and training opportunities

What about you?

You’re someone who sees the potential in every child and believes that inclusion isn’t just a policy, it’s a mindset. You bring deep knowledge of SEND and behaviour support, and you’re confident in guiding others with clarity and compassion. You’re a natural leader who can inspire and upskill teams, designing training that builds confidence and strengthens practice across settings. You’re reflective, collaborative and always ready to roll up your sleeves to make things better. You know how to navigate complexity, but you keep children at the heart of every decision. You’re passionate about making a difference, and you want to be part of a team that’s doing things differently, where high standards, community impact and joyful learning go hand in hand.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and review of SEND policies and ensure best practice across all nurseries.

  • Provide expert advice and hands-on support for SEND and behaviour strategies.

  • Design and deliver training to build team confidence and competence in inclusive practice.

  • Oversee SEND funding applications and liaise with external professionals and families.

  • Ensure compliance with SEND legislation and keep the organisation updated on changes.

  • Monitor outcomes for children with SEND and use data to drive improvements.

  • Champion inclusive environments where every child can thrive.

Please see the full job description here for a full list of responsibilities and personal specification.

  • A positive mindset, approaching tasks with a can-do-attitude

  • A strong work ethic, setting a good example for others and supporting your team

  • The want to make a difference, working in partnership positively with your team

  • The want to be part of trying or suggesting new initiatives and ways of doing things

  • High standards for yourself, team and the nursery

  • A reflective mindset, open to feedback and ongoing self-improvement

To apply for this role you’ll need a full and relevant Early Years qualification, such as:

  • NNEB

  • NVQ Level 3+ Diploma (Childcare & Education)

  • BTEC (Childcare)
